Fountain Hills is a family oriented community that was established in 1970. Before 1970 the area was part of one of the largest land and cattle areas in Arizona. It was purchased by Robert McCulloch and designed by Charles Wood Jr. (the designer of Disneyland). Fountain Hills is known for having the worlds tallest man made, continuously running fountain.

Fountain Hills principal economic activities rely on small businesses, government, and manufacturing for the majority of their employment. Surrounded by many open spaces Fountain Hills is a scenic paradise. With lakes to the east and west, providing picnic areas, and water recreation including swimming, water skiing, and boating.

The Africa Wildlife Park offers a unique, educational attraction. Fountain Hills offers many attractions to the residents including cultural activities, college and professional sports, and horse racing.
