Cave Creek has a unique and colorful history, having been settled in the 1870's but not becoming incorporated until 1986. Much of that history is still reflected in the theme of special events and unique retail shops. Cave Creek's fiercely independent spirit has been nurtured for more than 100 years as miners, ranchers and others looking to get away from it all settled in relative seclusion near Black Mountain. Cave Creek is located in northern Maricopa County.
It is a 20-25 minute drive from Phoenix, depending on the traffic.
Cave Creek neighbors Carefree, and the two cities share a Community
Theater, parks and a Chamber of Commerce.
Although increased urban growth throughout the Valley has changed
Cave Creek a bit, residents are regular folks who are civic-minded
and active in the community. The Cave Creek Museum offers a look at
history with displays of Indian artifacts, cowboy memorabilia, and
items from the gold rush days. The Heard Museum North offers Native American
contemporary fine art. Local ranches offer scenic breakfast of
sunset horseback rides as well as entertainment! Other attractions
include Bartlett Lake and the Cave Creek Mistress Mines. CAVE CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD INFORMATION
