Founded in 1879, Casa Grande was named for the famous Hohokam Indian Ruins that are located nearby. Midway between Phoenix and Tucson, the city has grown to be the largest community in western Pinal County since its incorporation in 1915.Once dependent on agriculture and mining, the community has evolved into a diversified area with manufacturing, retail trade, government  and tourist-related employment.

 The Casa Grande Valley Historical Museum offers many historical displays and facts about the area. The Museum hosts a number of shows each year featuring sculpture, water-color, multimedia and Western  art by Arizona artists. There are more than 18 parks located in the  Casa Grande area offering picnicing, baseball diamonds, handball and tennis courts.

Casa Grande is home to the Francisco Grande Resort. Once a hideaway for the top stars and professional athletes, the newly refurbished resort boasts a five star golf course, restaurants, nightclubs and watering holes. The hotel was the brainchild of the owner of the San Francisco Giants, and was the training resort of the Giants during the winter, and spring. Western star John Wayne even kept a penthouse on the top floor of the ultramodern hotel.

For the more active residents, and tourists Casa Grande offers plenty of outdoor activities to please individuals and families alike. Take a hike through Picacho Peak State Park. Children will love to visit the Casa Grande Palm Island Family Aquatics Park. For the most energetic of residents check out Skydive Arizona, home of the largest skydive drop zone in the world.

Any way you look at it, Casa Grande has a little bit of everything for the family to enjoy.
