Founded in 1888, Buckeye was named
for the home state (Ohio) of one of its early settlers. They prided
themselves on quality lifestyle and family environments, Buckeye has
lived through three generations of floods and droughts and managed
to transform the desert land into a green and productive valley.
Buckeye is an Arizona Main Street Community, providing business
assistance in organization, design, promotion, and economic
restructuring for the central business district. Buckeye has a
balanced economy with Agriculture leading the way. The area is one
of the largest producers of cotton, gins process the cotton and ship
it worldwide.
The Buckeye area has plenty of parks, offering golfing, hiking and
climbing, and other recreation. The Buckeye Hills Regional Park
offers facilities for day visitors, as well as a shooting range.
Buckeye is home to a wildlife sanctuary and The Sun Valley Parkway.
They also host many events ranging from rodeos, street fairs, car
shows, Pioneer Days, and a Bluegrass festival every spring.
