Apache Junction is the gateway to some of Arizona's most famous attractions.
Just 25 miles east of downtown Phoenix in the East Valley, Apache Junction is
a town filled with history full of treasures.
From the rumors of gold in the Superstition Mountains near town that still haunt
prospectors who are bent on finding the Lost Dutchman Mine that purportedly was
discovered in the 1880s by Jacob Waltz, but whose location has been lost for years.
Today the Superstitions are populated with hikers and equestrians who take advantage of
numerous trails.
Lost Dutchman State Park also offers hiking opportunities. Apache Junction continues to
attract those who want to escape the cold winter months in other parts of the country.
Apache Junction's population is 22,000 and they cater mostly to recreation seekers and
retirees, offering many outdoor activities including golfing, traveling the ghost
towns and fairs, horseback riding one of the picturesque trails,or going for boat rides.
